I read an article recently that said that we fall in love with 3 people in our lifetime. The first is your young love, the second is your hard love, and the third is the true love that you never see coming. "This is the love that comes so easy it doesn’t seem possible. It’s the kind where the connection can’t be explained and knocks us off our feet because we never planned for it." It’s an amazing feeling, especially for a single Mom, when someone comes along unexpectedly and fits into your life so easily. Like they were always meant to be there.
Ryan's first message to me stood out from the crowd, particularly because in the first line he teased me for not having Star Wars on my list of favorite movies. (A risky move, but it worked!) His charm and perseverance won me over and it didn't take long at all for me to fall in love with his smile, his sense of adventure and all of his little quirks. (And his cooking!) He's an amazing partner, a wonderful father, and I can't wait to celebrate our 2 year anniversary on October 8th by promising forever in front of our family and friends.
Ok, So where do I begin? I moved to South Carolina on a whim looking for a change. Four months later, after enjoying this amazing beach life, I decided to try Match.com to meet new people, as I didn’t know many. Little did I know, as I looked through profiles on a trial of the site, that I would meet my partner in crime. After talking over the inter-webs for a week or two we finally met for coffee and it was fantastic from beginning to end. According to her, we walked 15,000 steps while getting to know each other (yes, she’s a fitbit user) and drinking Starbucks. For me, I was getting to know my partner, while I didn’t yet know it.
I knew she had a child, but I was undeterred. I liked this girl and was ready to do anything to spend more time with her. After a few afternoon “dates” I ended up meeting her daughter for the first time, who gave me her socks upon meeting me and asked me to put them in the laundry for her. Since then, and forever after, I am theirs. They are both my rock and my driving force. As I tell the Youngling, “ I am one with the Force, the Force is with me”, so too, is the force with the three of us.
